The ones from the 80s are the ones I'm most used to. But now I'm too lazy to go see. Ans it seems like we have a winner with the Ultraman connection anyway. Given some thought, I agree they have a lot of the same beats to them, but some some pretty significant differences too (and I don't just mean cosmetic ones).

I need to see this statue of Simon. First of all I think it's awesome that it's Simon, not Alvin. It would only have been better if it had been Theodore. I didn't watch the movies, but I don't like how the chipmunks are portrayed in the movies' posters. The ones in the Golden Book are much much better.

The Chipmunks cartoon were aired in Perú during 80s decade and they are known as "Alvin y las Ardillas".Traveling Picshttp://traveling-pics.livejournal.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5930128877122660917.post-4737405572147553162015-07-26T09:16:32.276-07:002015-07-26T09:16:32.276-07:00the red dinosaur is a Ultraman knockoff called Sup...the red dinosaur is a Ultraman knockoff called Super Dino Monsters. They are like scrunched up versions of Ultraman Monsters.Buzz Chuckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10963546548557978398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5930128877122660917.post-46512310851130008912015-07-19T03:44:04.268-07:002015-07-19T03:44:04.268-07:00Happy three year anniversary! I'm pleased to hear you're getting the hang of it.

Never seen Toonsylvania myself but I do love monsters and Animaniacs so it could be worth checking out.

This April looks like the one that Miss M uses in her toy stories. It looks to be in remarkable condition for a second hand store.

I remember getting the soundtrack for Spider-Man in 2002 with this same style foldout photos as the Batman soundtrack. I knew the movies plots were nearly identical but I didn't realize they were marketed so similarly as well.

Looks like a case of early installment weirdness for the chipmunks. I do like this art style on the more realistic side. Although that reminds me, there's a thrift store not far from work with a six foot statue of Simon in the window. I need to take a photo of it because it is the kind of thing that gives nightmares the hebbie-jebbies!

Kyle Baker is a great artist though I think he may have been told to go for a Frank Miller Dark Knight Returns style with this book, especially since the Dick Tracy movie was riding on Batman's cape as well.
Erik Johnson Illustratorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11184274387021011687noreply@blogger.com
